Without a doubt, the Mediterranean is one of the world’s most productive waters with more than 500 species of fish. Combine your favourite hobby during your superyacht charter in destinations like Greece, Spain or Italy that will satisfy your fishing and holiday wishes! The Mediterranean is a sought-after summer spot known for its incredible scenery, delicious food, colourful villages and golden beaches.

Greece

Delicious fresh seafood, local villages perched on cliffs and warm hospitality – this is an angler’s paradise. Surrounded by three different seas, there is a bounty of fish ranging from Bluefin Tuna to Squid. Take your catch of the day to the local taverna or ask your chef on board to prepare a delicious seafood dinner.

Bluefin Tuna is one of the most famous fish angler’s love to catch thanks to their delicious taste. Tuna can be found in all three seas and techniques like trolling or deep-sea jigging is the most popular. Greece’s coastlines are brimming with Swordfish, which takes serious skills to reel one in! Nighttime drift fishing is the most popular technique and requires a good fight. Squid also locally known as kalamari is a tasty catch. Often found in the Cyclades, fishing for squid normally takes place late summer and are often caught in the evening, which makes it even more exciting.

Italy

Europe’s fifth-longest coastline offers prime fishing grounds. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Alps, Italy’s crystal-clear lakes hold a variety of fish from Trout, Grayling and Whitefish. Fly fishing is the technique of choice that captivates anglers from all over who want a piece of the action. The floating city of Venice has popular catches like mussels, crabs and clams. The Ionian Sea around Sicily guarantees big game prizes with Swordfish, Bluefin Tuna as well as Mahi Mahi. End your day on the winding streets of Taormina or hiking up Etna.

Italy’s west coast has access to two seas: the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian seas that are great hunting grounds. Spaghetti alla vongole originates from the area of Naples however it is not just crustaceans here. Find smaller Bluefin Tuna, Spearfish and Barracuda in the deep sea and closer to shore Seabass, Seabream and Hake are easy to catch. Ask your chef to cook you Sardinia’s local speciality, Fregula with your catch of the day.

Spain

Discover the magic of Spain with archipelagos overflowing with fish, incredible weather and warm hospitality. The Ebro River has earned its reputation of Spain’s finest angling spots where it is home to huge fish such as Catfish that can weigh up to 90kg. The Basque coastline is a haven for Salmon and Saltwater fishing where you can reel in Octopus, Bream and Mackerel species. In addition, the Balearic Islands are also a hot spot for Bluefin Tuna, Mahi Mahi and Marlin. The waters between Mallorca and Ibiza are filled with a variety of fish, making it easy for beginners or avid anglers to hook their catch of the day.
