How Feadship built the 87-metre LONIAN

The Netherlands-based shipyard Feadship made an impression this week, becoming one of the first shipyards to unveil the entire construction process for one of its yachts, PROJECT 700, christened LONIAN, in an impressive timelapse video! The shipyard always show the finished superyachts, but this time they unveiled what three years of building a Feadship looks like in five minutes, without missing a single step from Day One! Until she is christened later this month, the 87-metre Feadship LONIAN, which has just emerged from one of the construction halls at the Aalsmeer yard,  continues to be referred to as PROJECT 700 (don’t read anything into the 700 – it’s simply the hull number, albeit admittedly a landmark one for the yard...). The four-deck motor yacht emerged from the shed at the crack of dawn on 11th July sporting a royal blue paint finish, showcasing some impressive lines and details that only the video can explain. The project took three years to complete and brought together countless skilled craftsmen and women from the superyacht business and beyond. Here, Feadship has released a unique construction video that captures the 87-metre motor yacht’s various stages of construction over three years. By releasing this video, Feadship confirms its position as a key player in the luxury superyacht industry, being always at the cutting-edge of yachting education. Watching this video, we can clearly understand the complexity of a building such a piece of art, and how long beautiful things can take to be polished. LONIAN is a striking 87-metre beauty with exterior styling by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, as is the interior, the latter in co-operation with Richard Hallberg Interior Design. The accommodation for the owners and their twelve guests are of the very highest standards, with the service by 27 crew of an equalliy high calibre.
