Porto Montenegro is an exclusive marina and a yachting paradise located on the Adriatic coast. With world-class service for superyachts, it is considered to be one of the best marinas in the Mediterranean.

Where can we find the best-hidden gems in Montenegro?

Luštica Peninsula and Budva Riviera make for a fantastic cruise along the coast, with opportunities to hop off the boat and check out some lovely restaurants and beach clubs.

The coast is rich with the most authentic places. Traditional Balkan vibes can be found in small fishing villages such as Rose at Lustica, Pržno near Budva or the Ulcinj Riviera. Whilst being small, this destination is packed with hidden surprises. Consulting local agents is always recommended so that guests can get the best tips and secure an early booking for some highly sought-after spots.

What are your top 3 favourite restaurants?

When it comes to fine dining in Montenegro, the possibilities are endless. It is filled with fantastic Mediterranean cuisine in remote and distinctive locations.

Ćatovića Mlini is one of the finest seafood restaurants in Montenegro. It is surrounded by nature and boasts of a charming location in an old watermill with greenery and running water. The service is always high class with quality produce and freshly caught fish. Ribarsko selo (Fisherman’s village) is a well-known bar-meets-seafood restaurant overlooking Zanjice beach. It was a hit with locals from day one and is uniquely accessed by boat making for the most authentic experience.

For an added touch of luxury, the Aman Signature Restaurant & Piazza sits hidden away on Sveti Stefan island, offering magnificent views, a romantic ambience and mouth-watering cuisine – an all-round experience seemingly designed to “take your breath away”.

What are your top 3 activities when in Montenegro?

It all depends on preferences but what Montenegro does best is an adventure and encounters with nature. The thrills of canyoning, hiking and diving take you from the coastline to the mountains and back around to the outstanding natural beauty of Boka Bay.

For guests looking for an active vacation, I would recommend water sports at Traste Bay. There are some excellent diving spots along the coast, particularly in the Ulcinj area. Kayaking is also a great option for those wanting to explore hidden beaches along the coast.

Medjurjecje near Bar is great for canyoning, while Lipa Cave takes you on a geological tour of Montenegro’s stalactites and stalagmites. For fitness lovers, you can take a biking tour from Lovcen to Lustica Bay – this route offers some exceptional views, which are favoured by many.

For those looking to pamper themselves, there are several 5-star resorts on the coast - Regent Porto Montenegro, Aman Resorts, Dukley Gardens and Chedi Lustica Bay - offering fantastic spa facilities and lively beach clubs to enjoy the evenings.

If you’re looking to do something unique, swimming through the Yugoslav Submarine Tunnels in Rose Bay is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Describe your perfect 4-day charter itinerary in Montenegro

Not to be biased, but I always recommend starting your charter in Porto Montenegro. We do provide full support for our clients. This means captains and crew can prepare for their upcoming trip in peace, knowing all is set for the arrival of guests.

On the first day, I would suggest focusing on the Kotor Bay area. Walking tour around Kotor Old Town or even a hike up the town’s walls, followed by a boat cruise to Perast.

For day two, head to Lustica’s open waters to enjoy some watersports and swimming followed by a nice lunch and drinks at the restaurants in the area. Ribarsko Selo and Almara Beach Club are some of the excellent options.

On day three, a cruise to Budva, not missing a visit to Sveti Stefan and Aman resort. Nearby Miločer beach is perfect for some quiet time in the shade. For the late afternoon, I suggest dinner at the Aman Signature restaurant followed by some dancing in Montenegro’s biggest open-air club Top Hill known for its DJ line up and parties that last until dawn.

For the last day, enjoy the ambience of the fantastic Porto Montenegro Yacht Club pool – a 64m infinity pool with a fine dining option and seamless service – a great way to unwind and relax.

What are the services Porto Montenegro offers superyacht owners and guests?

We are more than a berthing opportunity for superyachts. The nautical residential village directly surrounding the marina offers a variety of international restaurants and bars, high-end fashion brands and speciality stores along with essential services – bank, pharmacy, supermarket, day spa, florist and hairdresser – anything they may need is within walking distance away.

With an onsite helipad and a 10-minute drive away from Tivat International Airport with private jet facilities, guests and owners can be sure of convenient access to their yacht.

The lifestyle and community of the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club offer some fantastic downtime, socialising and sailing opportunities, while the Sports Club facilities host a tremendous calendar of training programmes.

What benefits are available to superyachts in Porto Montenegro?

We truly are a full-service marina – from the moment the boat expresses their interest in Porto Montenegro, throughout the booking process, upon arrival and during the stay, captains and crew can enjoy the full support of our concierge and Yacht Assist team. With an onsite customs dock, tax-free fuel and state of the art facilities along with various options to spend time off actively, crews can enjoy a fantastic base during their stay.

Can Porto Montenegro support Captain and crew needs?

Absolutely! Porto Montenegro was initially created with the needs of the superyacht industry in the foreground of importance. Our Marina Director was a superyacht captain and from day one, our focus was to build a marina that would offer full support to the working captains and crew, making their jobs and stay in the marina enjoyable. Aside from the tremendous focus on service quality, we invest a lot of effort in ensuring a high-quality crew lifestyle. Our in-house RYA training centre and Warsash Superyacht Academy training programme help the crew develop their professional skills during their stay. What’s more, a Crew Club calendar of weekly events year-round, and complimentary ski chalet during the winter season rounds off the holistic crew experience at Porto Montenegro, which is the story behind the tagline ‘More than a berth’.
